Norwegian painter Lars Korff Lofthus’ work weaves together themes of rural life, folklore, cultural landscapes, pop culture, and queer masculinity. His art engages with historical crafts and centuries-old cultural traditions, including patterned quilts, decorative “rose” painting, and beer-bowl rituals. Lofthus’ paintings play with desire, visually oscillating between the bare minimal and the fully saturated, exploring both excess and restraint in equal measure. With his new pieces, Lofthus offers a fresh, intimate perspective on themes of identity, culture, and longing.
