Like the other ceramic works in this series, Benjamin employs her own take on the Japanese technique of Kintsugi (“golden joinery”). The girls themselves are shattered from their physical entrance into the three dimensional world, a concept which aligns with Benjamin’s interest in depicting states of anguish, heartbreak, and brokenness.
