KIPNZ is pleased to present sculptures and drawings by self-taught artist, Simone Mantellassi. Born and raised in Florence, Italy, Mantellassi moved to the United States in 2002 and lives and works in Gilbertsville, New York, in the Western Catskills.

Inspired by the Renaissance art of his hometown, Florence—and its particular lack of humor—he practiced his own drawing (and jokes), incorporating the absurdities of everyday life. In these vivid works, non-sensical alignments of objects and narratives intermingle in fantastically colorful landscapes and three-dimensional constructions.
