The natural and abstract collide in Russell Tyler’s recent paintings. This presentation brings two seemingly dissonant styles of paintings together, connected by their highly tactile, rich impasto painting technique, as well as an astute consideration of deep space within the composition. Acidic palettes reference the colors from the artist’s early life in the tropical landscapes of Hawaii.
