Installation view: Ana Bidart presented by Josée Bienvenu Gallery, New York

Swimming Room focuses on drawing and its relationship with time, space and body. The room references each geographic modification and architectural project incorporated into Governors Island since its contemporary settlement. For Ana Bidart, the cartography of the island and its historic blueprints overlap in an imagined ever-evolving graphic memory. The blue-board on the floor of the room is a reference to blueprints as well as the water encompassing the island reflecting the sky above it. In her absence, the artist invites participants to engage with the island’s history through drawing with chalk-spheres.
