SHRINE is pleased to present a solo-presentation of new oil paintings by UK artist, Laura Footes. Footes paints highly dramatic scenes of everyday life through the lens of a complex health situation that leaves her bedridden from days, to weeks, and sometimes even months. In her paintings she imagines what happens behind the closed doors of others, depicting provocative and personal scenes with figures that are often transparent, with exposed organs and nerves. They impart a ghostly quality that gently beckons you into her works, but somehow still feel inspiring and alive.
