Star Lady is Benjamin’s take on a traditional portrait bust. Unlike the other two ceramic works in this series, which have a distinctive front and back, Star Lady has two faces. One stares into the distance, the other winks. In this piece, Benjamin employs the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery called Kintsugi (“golden joinery”).
