Benjamin brings her figures into three dimensions in this new ceramic series. Shattered Girl inhabits a dimensionality somewhere in between painting and sculpture, encompassing some of the same flat stylistic techniques as her paintings. The work is made of glazed ceramic and painted in a naive style with nail polish and acrylic paints. Benjamin employs her own take on the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery called Kintsugi.
