Alex McQuilkin, “Surface Nature,” 2023, flashe on paper on panel, 30 x 23 inches

In celebration of the month of May’s ‘Flower Moon’, de boer is pleased to participate in NADA New York with a presentation that traces the history of the flower in art, exploring its evolution and identifying iconographic trends that have attracted artists for centuries. The history of flowers in art is a story about faith, attitudes toward sexuality, and the thirst for power and knowledge. Depictions are as far ranging as observations of nature to abstracted forms. The presentation will inform a multitude of emotions: from love, passion, desire, purity, innocence, and even death.
