This body of work explores Puerta’s ongoing interest in material translation as a site for transformation and the poetics of world building embedded in the symbolic language of the materials and forms themselves. She is interested in making visceral work that stems from her research in psycho-analysis as it relates to the history of hysteria and personal histories of immigration and un-documentaion in the U.S. This work is an ongoing exploration around organic forms that evoke questions around use and sentience and our relationship to domestic materials and forms as a space of tranformation.
