Adrián S. Bará in his studio, Photograph by Allison Hadar

Adrián S. Bará (b.1982, Mexico City) explores the body’s relationship with architecture and cities. Using everyday and found materials, such as wood, cardboard, newspaper, and drywall, he analyzes built environments. Often making immersive installations with industrial materials that generate complex narratives to deconstruct our lived experiences, questioning the increasing state of disconnected alienation and vulnerability in our society. In these new paintings, “Poems to the Unknown,” (2022-2023) he depicts the tension generated when these materials are used to standardize and encapsulate.
