Each hour-long tour will provide commentary on a selection of exhibitors’ booths and artists on view. For the seasoned collector and casual art fair-goer alike, the tours offer a one-of-a-kind experience of the 2014 fair and a unique opportunity to hear from two of New York’s most respected arts writers. El Local Club

Independent Curators International (ICI), in partnership with Beta-Local, present El Local Club, a conversation about the influences of Caribbean in artistic practice and production. Taking as a point of departure Radamés “Juni” Figueroa’s Tree House — Club House, 2013, a sculpture and social platform built in the tropical forest of Naguabo, Puerto Rico; Stefan Benchoam, Co-director, Proyectos Ultravioleta, Guatemala City; Pablo Guardiola, Co-director, Beta-Local, San Juan; and Radamés “Juni” Figueroa, artist, San Juan, will discuss generosity as a tool, “tropical” strategies and methodologies, site specificity, networks of influence, and the ways of working in Puerto Rico. El Local Club has been made possible, in part, by the support of Phaidon.
 
Artadia NADA Award:
Partnering for the fourth season, Artadia and NADA will award an exceptional artist exhibiting at NADA an unstrestricted $4,000 cash prize and all lifetime privileges of the Artadia Awards program. A jury of two, internationally prominent curators will walk through the fair on opening day and select the artist from the number of galleries Award winner will be announced on Saturday, May 10th. The Artadia NADA Award is generously funded by Artadia and NADA.

LittleCollector will return with fun-filled workshops and tours to provide a discovery element to the fair for younger attendees. Artist-led workshops by Amy Stevens and Shelter Serra explore the mediums of photography and paint. Tours with art education experts will inspire the next generation of artists, and introduce terms of medium, scale, narrative, symmetry, and genre within a fair setting. Participants in all programs will receive a backpack and activity guide.
