The Hole is pleased to present new work by Vickie Vainionpää. Starting with a generative computer script and ending as oil on canvas, Vainionpää’s practice considers the impact of technology on the process of painting. Our presentation sees the latest of Vainionpää’s Soft Body Dynamic series alongside introducing her new series of Gaze Paintings. Using eye-tracking software, Vainionpää maps her gaze across canonical paintings. Where the artist’s eye rests serves as the underpinning for her brushstrokes in this novel continuation of her generative process.
