For our presentation at NADA Miami 2022, Sebastian Gladstone will present a solo project by gallery-artist Magnus Maxine. Magnus Maxine is a craft-based conceptual artist whose practice addresses trauma, oppression, and labor as they relate to personal and collective experiences. In this new body of work, Maxine’s practice uses banal materials and laborious-repetitive gestures to reappropriate current world events into sublime and meditative patterns. All of these patterned paintings act as studies for quilts, a major keystone for the artist’s practice.
