Franz Kaka is proud to present the work of emerging Canadian artist Connie Wilson. Her large-scale sculpture Ode Land Yacht (2021) is based on a drawing of a land yacht found in the children’s board game Elfenland, which Wilson uses as a framework through which to interrogate the tension between diegesis and mimesis within artistic creation. Rather than create a direct representation of the drawing found in the game, Wilson’s sculpture is instead an ode or dedication that now includes elements fashioned as poetic flourishes that alter the original object’s composition.
