NADA Miami 2013

BAM + NADA Portfolio:
The Bam + NADA Portfolio features a dozen unique and newly produced prints by twelve of the most exciting contemporary artists working today:

Joshua Abelow, Sascha Braunig, Sarah Crowner, Alex Da Corte, Michael DeLucia, Christian Holstad, Zak Kitnick, Margaret Lee, Sam Moyer, Ulrike Müller, Zak Prekop, and Michael Williams.

Purchase includes a stamped archival linen box and a signed colophon page. Works vary in style and utilize a range of different printing methods, including silkscreen, photogravure, lithography, and pigment on aluminum. Starting at $3,000, proceeds benefit both nonprofit organizations.


NADA x American Apparel:
NADA by American Apparel will feature artwork by four contemporary American artists, each represented by a NADA exhibitor, printed on American Apparel merchandise of their selection. The 2013 featured artists are Anya Kielar, Andrew Kuo, Cary Leibowitz, and Scott Reeder.

The line will be available at American Apparel stores in Miami and the NADA by American Apparel pop up shop, part of the newly designed NADA entrance in the lobby of the Deauville Beach Resort, along with NADA merchandise, through the duration of the fair. Select American Apparel stores in Miami, New York, and Los Angeles will carry NADA by American Apparel, and will also be available for purchase on-line through their website.  

Phaidon:
At NADA Miami Beach 2013, Phaidon is celebrating the publication of Art Cities of the Future: 21st Century Avant-Gardes ($79.95). Visitors to the fair are invited to utilize Artsy’s online catalogue to explore Phaidon’s Insider’s Guide and discover galleries and artists from twelve emerging art capitals around the world. Document and share your finds on social media using #artcities and #phaidon.

NADA Artadia Award:
A partnership with Artadia makes all artists with work on display at NADA Miami Beach eligable to win The Artadia Award, an unrestricted $4,000 prize. The winner will be chosen by two internationally renowned curators on the opening day of the fair: Thursday, December 5th. The winner and the names of the jurors will be announced on Friday, December 6th. 

The artist whose work is selected will join the Artadia family and receive all lifetime priveleges of the Artadia awardees, including access to Artadia’s national network and the option to participate in Artadia’s programs, exhibitions, and publications. The Award winner will be eligable for Artadia’s New York Residency program, professional services and will be promoted in all materials.

Children’s Tour, hosted by LittleCollector:
Join LittleCollector for a fun-filled tour of NADA Miami Beach! Kids can join LittleCollector’s art educational expert as they discover the fair in a whole new light, where medium, scale, narrative, symmetry, and genre are introduced. Kids will have a chance to be directly inspired by artists and their works. All participants receive a LittleCollector tote bag and activity guide.

Talk Show IX:
Dedicated to exploring professions whose intricacies are often wondered at but rarely explored, Talk Show uses the typical broadcast format interviewer, monologue, house band, special guests—to explore the atypical topic of the world of work. Other variations on the form include: no actual broadcast, questions from the audience, and a sideman who mixes cocktails. Previous guests have included: a Perfume Designer, an Exterminator, and a Department Store Santa.

In this installment, Talk Show leaves its usual home at Cabinet Magazine in Brooklyn for a special one-off Miami edition. Guests include plastic surgeon Jonathan Fisher, professional Stuntman Eric Mainade, a luxury yacht salesman, and special musical guests DROOIDS X Merkx & Gwynne.

David Levine is an artist living in New York and Berlin. His work has appeared in Frieze, Mousse, and Artforum. He is currently preparing to direct an opera about Milli Vanilli.

Eben Klemm is a drinks inventor and writer based in Brooklyn. He has consulted for Marcus Samuelsson, Ace Hotel and Starr Restaurants and is working on opening his own establishment.

Metal Fatigue Music:
Metal Fatigue Music (1992 Toyota Previa)(2013) is an audio/automobile performance scored for electronic music and boom car. Low frequency Pure Wave Tones are amplified through the Previa’s custom-built high amplitude sub-bass sound system, physically activating the body of the van and its occupants. Adventurous viewers will be invited into the van to experience this intense and ecstatic sound and body event.

Performances will take place on Friday, Dec. 6th, 12–2pm, 3–6pm and Saturday, Dec. 8th, 12–4pm, on the parking ramp outside of the Deauville

Artist and composer Ben Vida (BM Webster University, MFA Bard) releases records with PAN, Alku and Kranky and has presented work in the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia, South Korea and Japan. Artist Jeff DeGolier (BFA University of Washington, MFA University of Illinois, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture) is a founding member of the artist-run exhibition space REGINA REX. They both work and live in NYC.
