Installation view: Scott Covert presented by FIERMAN, New York

Matthew Kirk (b. 1978, Ganado, AZ) lives and works in NY. Grass Pounder, his sculptural painting installation, was built to live outdoors. Matthew works across media, most commonly using materials from the construction industry, to create singular compositions reflecting his Navajo heritage and the built environment. A snail lives inside this work.

Scott Covert (b. 1954, lives and works in NY and peripatetically) is known for his thirty plus year use of the grave rubbing as both cultural signifier and painterly flourish. At NADA House Scott Covert presents his lesser-known, obsessively intricate drawings depicting rubbings of the same American flag taken from a military tombstone in California.
