Capsule

In his NADA presentation for Capsule Shanghai, Douglas Rieger (b. 1984, Pittsburgh PA) stages a confrontation with a massive sculpture, both menacing and seductive, alongside soft wall works that probe the encounter—evoking the mechanical and corporeal, the sensual and unknown. The installation creates a symbiotic environment where rigidity and vulnerability coexist, and where body and machine are reimagined. Titled "Male Fantasies", after the book by Klaus Theweleit, the project extends the tension between hard and soft, armor and flesh.
