E’wao Kagoshima (b. 1945, Niigata, Japan) is a Japanese-born, New York–based artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, and collage. He received his BFA in Craft (Metal Casting and Metalwork) from Tokyo University of the Arts in 1969 and moved to New York in 1976.

This presentation at NADA New York brings together works from different periods of Kagoshima’s life in New York—some reflecting a deep personal vulnerability, others celebrating his inventive approach to materials and form. Kagoshima lives and works in Queens, New York, and continues an active studio practice at the age of 80.
