Orkideh Torabi grounds her work in the style of Persian miniatures and books such as the Shanahmeh. In Torabi’s world, men become dependent, slighted, vulnerable, and without purpose. Her signature moves include gender-role reversals, exaggeration, scale absurdity, and gendered paradigm shifts of active/acted upon.

Mark Joshua Epstein’s shaped paintings are made with fiberglass and resin. He incorporates graphic geometric patterns that reference motifs and ornaments found in Eastern European Jewish paper cutting, and abstract curvilinear designs decorating the borders of Medieval manuscripts.
