This painting was originally titled Rabbit’s Moon after Kenneth Anger’s 1972 film, which shares a blue palette to connote the light of the moon. In the short film, produced in 1950, a cast dressed in commedia dell’arte-style costumes, try to reach the moon, which according to some folklore is home to a rabbit.
