Nick Karp, “it ceases to be whining if you still have barbed wire in your hair,” 2023.

In October 2023, International deathmatch promoter Game Changer Wrestling became the first American independent professional wrestling company to run their own show at Tokyo’s storied Korakuen Hall, bringing over twenty wrestlers and referees from the U.S. and Mexico, many of whom performed in Japan for the very first time.

Adam Abdalla and Nick Karp captured the experience in VISITORS, a limited-edition hardcover book providing a rare look at “the tender gore of life on the road,” showcasing “a group of wrestlers far from home, fulfilling a lifelong dream”.

Accompanying its publication is an exhibition of the photographs at NADA East Broadway in the Lower East Side.

Featuring Adam Abdalla, founder and president of Cultural Counsel and publisher of Orange Crush; Reilly Davidson, curator and director of CLEARING; Nick Karp, photographer; Masha Slamovich, World Champion, Jersey Championship Wrestling.

Presented with Cultural Counsel.
