Mythology, folklore, and the spiritual remain enduring subjects for artistic investigation. Today contemporary art retains a direct connection to some of the earliest examples of human visual culture unearthed, which were created by their makers to foster connections with the divine. While contemporary artists may not attest that their work becomes a conduit to the sacred, artists like L. Renee Nuñez (Northern-Southern, Austin) and Ernesto Solana (guadalajara90210, Guadalajara & Mexico City) explore the significance of myth, ritual, and memory in their practice.
