On Collecting…. Stuff
535 West 22nd Street, 4th Floor
At Philadelphia’s Barnes Collection, visitors find Cézanne, Picasso, Renoir… and hundreds of metal knick-knacks: hinges, lock plates, door knockers. A collection within a collection, objects stripped of their utility, context, and logic, arranged lovingly to be appreciated as standalone units of aesthetic expression.

This conversation brings together writers and art workers whose work revolves around collections and the collecting instinct, offering new elucidations of why we collect art. Featuring Hunter Braithwaite of Cultural Counsel, Rochelle Kwan of Chinatown Records, and Sophie Haigney (from The Paris Review).

Presented with Cultural Counsel.
