This fall NADA has organized a series of five workshops in collaboration with Amy Davila of ArtSmart which will cover topics such as tax deductions, sales tax nexus, cash flow management, budgeting, human resources and legal protection. This series walks gallery members through step by step how to understand and deal with pressing issues and simultaneously give members the tools needed to get organized, comply with regulations and ultimately grow and prosper.

The workshops are free for members to attend and will take place online via zoom for five consecutive weeks.

About Amy Davila:
Amy Davila is a financial advisor and business manager and consultant for artists, contemporary art galleries and non-profit art organizations such as ICA LA, LAXART, Marciano Art Foundation, Mier Gallery, CLEARING, Hannah Hoffman Gallery, and House of Gaga. She also manages the financials for artists such as Greg Ito, Kenturah Davis, Math Bass, Kathleen Ryan, Rebecca Manson, and Jordan Wolfson among others. 

Before moving to Los Angeles in 2008, she worked as a Director at David Zwirner. Before entering the art world, Davila worked as an international tax consultant for Ernst & Young LLP in Houston and San Francisco. Davila holds an MBA in Business & Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin and has been working in the art world for over 25 years.

Davila has taught at the Sotheby’s Institute, Los Angeles and New York and lectured at School of Visual Arts, New York and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, New York. In 2024, “Make Art Think Smart: ArtSmart’s practical guide to a prosperous studio” will be published which contains invaluable information and tools helping artists build and maintain their studios as thriving profitable businesses.
