Rodion Kitaev, “Male LadyPeacock,” embroidery on fabric, 125 x 145 cm

Iragui gallery is happy present a solo show of Rodion Kitaev (b. 1984, Moscow).

In this project, Kitaev is referring to cryptomnesia – a psychological phenomenon, a particular kind of memory erosion, which was assimilated by Surrealists as a psychopraxis. For his tapestry series dedicated to the Surrealists, Kitaev chose the titles of three paintings by Leonora Carrington and André Masson and pretended as though he had never seen them.

The presentation also includes textile objects, paintings and drawings on paper, which were created having in mind different poems of Surrealist poets.
