Michael Janssen Berlin invites six artists with different backgrounds to delve into the concept of collage as a means of artistic expression as well as cultural identity. Louis Cameron’s Collage Paintings are inspired by African American quilts, whereas Gulnur Mukazhanova examines post-nomadic identities. Margret Eicher’s tapestry blends art history and pop icons.Yonamine uses street art aesthetics to reflect on contemporary echoes of colonial politics.Yafeng Duang and Monique van Genderen explore the objective sensibility of abstraction through personal vocabulary of brushstrokes and mediums.
