Each work in Regarding Structures reimagines photographic mattes—materials historically tied to protection and display in Black domestic spaces—as architectural propositions. Through shifts in scale, angle, and color, the mattes step forward as subjects, revealing their own geometry, spatial logic, and cultural weight. What once framed images now acts as structure, carrying memory, resonance, and the layered histories embedded in the politics of display.
