In 1991, the Japanese religious group Aum Shinrikyo released in 10 episodes of an anime series to recruit new members. Each episode could be purchased separately. You can watch the entire series on @youtube .
Aum Shinrikyo was a Japanese cult founded in 1984 by Shoko Asahara. The group gained members in all areas of societies notably scientists that helped create the poison sarin which was released on the Japanese subway on March 10, 1995 resulting in the murder of 13 people, the severe injury of 50 (some dying later from their injuries), and other injuries to over 1000 others. 12 members of the group and their leader Shoko Asahara, responsible for the attack were excuted for their crimes in 2018.
