Founded by artists and artworkers in 1976, Printed Matter fosters the distribution, understanding and appreciation of artists' books and related publications. Printed Matter is now one of the world's largest non-profit distributors of artists' books and offers free programs and services to artists and the public, including our longrunning NY and LA Art Book Fairs. Printed Matter has two locations in NYC: our flagship location in Chelsea and our St. Marks location in the East Village.
Printed Matter is thrilled to participate in NADA Miami 2020. For this occasion, Printed Matter is launching a new fundraising edition by Barbara Kasten.
The online and in-person presentation features a selection of Printed Matter’s recent publications including ”No New Theories” by Kameelah Janan Rasheed and ”A Mistake is Beautiful Thing”, published in collaboration with LA-based Coloured Publishing (Yuri Ogita and Devin Troy Strother).
Also presented are recent fundraising editions by artists Farah Al Qasimi, Ella Kruglyanskaya, Cauleen Smith, and Didier William. Visit our store at 231 11th Ave, to see these works on display alongside over 40,000 artists book titles!
Printed Matter regularly works with artists to create editioned artworks as a contribution toward our fundraising efforts. Fundraising editions are a significant means of support for Printed Matter’s many programs and services and all the artists that we represent. While these editions are an important source of revenue for our organization, their production and distribution are also closely aligned with our mission to disseminate artists’ works made as multiples.
