Jeff Hallbauer is an interdisciplinary painter based on the ancestral territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, also known as Vancouver, Canada. When making work, Hallbauer often tries to connect to the sensibility of a child–to feel unburdened and free is something he strives for while working. In his new paintings the image transfers have a youthful expression, reminiscent of the doodles that teenagers draw in binders or in the margins of their homework.
