Using photography, Alyssa Gorelick records observations of her daily life (empty storefronts, cast-off objects on the sidewalk, domestic objects and ephemera in her living space), and processes these images through AI deep learning models. Using text to image AI developed to generate digital images from natural language descriptions, Gorelick adds her own language prompts to manipulate and reimagine her photographs. In her work, AI deep learning models are a means of visual exploration into unknown imagined realities, as well as a simple tool to augment her studio process. Through this process of exchange with computer intelligence, the surreality of everyday experience and possible hybrid futures emerge.
