Join NADA at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center for a screening of Rose Kallal’s “Murzim,” a 16mm film piece presented on video, with a live collaborative electronic sound performance by Kallal and Victoria Keddie. The screening and performance will be followed by a conversation between Rose Kallal and Isaac Lyles of Lyles & King, New York.
NADA at The Atrium will continue the David Rubenstein Atrium’s commitment to presenting dynamic programming that explores connections between the visual arts and music. The program features an artist working in video in collaboration with a musical performance / sound installation. This event is free and open to the public.
ROSE KALLAL
Rose Kallal’s performances include immersive multiple 16mm film loop projections accompanied by her own electronic sound work using modular synthesis. Incorporating a wide range of technical processes, such as traditional animation techniques, video synthesis/feedback and computer animation, the 16mm film loops cycle at varying speeds to create a hypnotic nonlinear flow of repeating patterns and motifs. The heavy use of repetition both visually and sonically, as well as the merging of both antiquated and modern technologies serve to dissolve the sense of time and place.
VICTORIA KEDDIE
Victoria Keddie is a NYC based artist working in sound, video, and transmission. She works with electromagnetic signal generation and field recording within concentrated energy fields. Here interests include the fluctuations of electromagnetic activity, ionospheric sounding, satellite debris and collision, and time sensitivity. Keddie’s video work plays with notions of the still frame, of image and sound synchronicity and collapse, the stereoscopic image and dimensional spaces. For five years, she has been Co-Director of E.S.P. TV, a nomadic TV studio that hybridizes technologies to realize synthetic environments and deconstruct the televisual for live performance. In early 2016, she launched UNIT 11, a mobile transmission based studio and residency operated within an ENG news van.
