Today, Black womxn art writers & cultural critics are a leading and authoritative voice, both online and in print, given the care and nuance we bring in writing about Black American, African, and African diasporic artists. This stems from a well-documented trajectory of Black womxn and femme art writers & critics who came before us, and the longstanding cultural labor they've produced.
For NADA Presents, Black Latinx writer, author, and founder of Gallery Gurls, Jasmin Hernandez, leads a robust conversation with Black womxn independent culture journalists, Isis Davis-Marks, Daria Simone Harper, and Jasmine Weber. A fruitful dialogue centered on writing about Black artists very thoughtfully, the ways our writing impacts the art market, the care and specificity we apply to our work, and writing within a still white-dominated art media landscape.
