Hallberg’s paintings invite prolonged observation, a kind of staring that gives way to meditation or near hallucination where the chaos and noise of the exterior world become a uniform blur of sounds, shapes, and color.

Working against the emphatically binocular nature of the diptych, color functions to unify left and right sides. While there are similarities across the central divide, forms slightly shift, repeat, and and move, creating instability as the eyes engage in a comparative dance.
