MFH work offers a queer critique of the productive power of emotions in art history through formal elements that evoke uncomfortable experiences from his personal history and distorted representations of regional landscapes and decadent beauty. Drawing on modernist manifestos and working styles, he questions the cultural imperative of happiness in the colonial production of subjectivity in the Global South, while exploring the therapeutic power of discomfort through poor materials, deformed perspectives, and non-legitimized artistic resources.
