Created during her residency at El Espacio 23, El gris busca los cielos and El verde persigue a la hierba draw from the artist’s imagined expansion and continuity of tropical wetlands, extending from the Caribbean into the South Florida ecosystem. These crosscurrents imprint and unfold within her internal world. Interstitial zones of land and water build an atmosphere where color and form undergo their own conversions, each element pressing toward another state. Celebration slips into grief; longing becomes a catalyst. Sofía’s first solo exhibition will open at the gallery in late October 2026.
