This selection of works represents a continuation of a larger body of work that revolves around cosmology and connection. Working in ceramics, I am interested in the duality of objecthood— the state or quality of being an object, while also viewing objects as subjects that are self-contained. These sculptures sit at the intersection of figuration and abstraction, function and ornamentation, and static yet boundless (un-fixed). When I begin working on a piece, I often pull specific details and notes directly from the last piece to track sequential ideas and attempt to resolve unanswered questions and concerns. Part of my process also involves discovering and contemplating the indistinct boundaries and connections that exist between objects in general and the work themselves. Hollowed and eternally composed, these bodily vessels evoke purpose, motion or agency. The repetition of certain motifs and forms such as spherical objects, containers, and poses on a large and small scale allow these figures to have room to stretch or condense and exist in multitude of iterations, thus further highlighting the hidden interconnection and patterns that bridge all things together.
