Our presentation pairs wall ceramics by Gabriela Vainsencher and paintings by Rebecca Morgan around the theme of Female Archetypes. Each artist dwells in allegorical and genre-mixing portraits. Vainsencher interchanges historical, mythological and contemporary representations from muses and deities to Mother/Monster; while Morgan subverts categories that have stunted women such as Crone, Witch, Damsel - within a larger arc of past and present gender norms.
