Ian L.C. Swordy’s recent works juxtapose free-standing sculptures, incorporating hand-carved wood and marble with wall works collaged from found material collected, sorted, and arranged from the artist’s daily walks across New York City. The two distinct bodies of work unify formally here in a powerful ode to the philosophical connotations of and interconnectedness between material, time, labor, and durability.
