Image of artwork titled "Weaving with Color" by Reina Mikame

Reina Mikame, Weaving with Color, 2022
Oil on canvas
23.8 × 19.7 inches

$3,500

Mikame deconstructs each color to find the colors that are faintly visible in the overlap of flowers and leaves. Then they are reconstruct- ed on the painting until they are visible again. “Weaving the Color” is the process of unraveling how the colors one sees have come to manifest, and to place the paint as if weaving colors a step prior to looking at the colors. By reconsidering the colors that we actually see in terms of the relationship between objects, she attempts to explore the boundaries of their inherent colors and contemplate how we see colors, including the workings of our perception.
