From the series BOLÍVAR-ES, this print by Mariantonia Blanco permutes the 5 bolívares banknote (1989 issue, without “CARACAS”) to create a mirrored, red-monochrome portrait that anticipates the visual language of Venezuela’s coming struggle. The work recontextualizes circulating iconography—Simón Bolívar, national emblems, and security patterns—into a charged image that reflects repetition, value, and memory in the public sphere.
