Richard Nam, Triceratops Marbled White, 2025
Glazed stoneware
18 × 8 × 10 inches

Richard Nam works primarily in ceramics, reimagining prehistoric life through vessels inspired by his lifelong fascination with paleontology and Earth’s evolutionary history. At NADA Miami, SITUATIONS will present a selection of his playful “Dino Pots,” unique ceramic works that have the capacity to double as planters: the container becomes a dinosaur’s torso, completed by features such as the graceful head of a Brontosaurus or the plated tail of a Stegosaurus. Blending scientific curiosity with playful sculptural form, these pieces animate ancient creatures while highlighting nature’s enduring strength and inherent fragility. Formed from clay—an elemental material both resilient and vulnerable—the series becomes a meditation on biodiversity across time, echoing the ancient yet ongoing story of life on our planet.
