Maité Nieves is an interdisciplinary artist interested in the expanded dialogue of painting. Her practice explores how we define space through domestic ownership. Nieves makes reference to ornamental details from architecture, specifically of floor and wall surfaces and tiles. She imbues her work with mystic values of objects often including reference to amulets, heirlooms, and jewelry.
