Nicole Etxeberria, El teatro y la enciclopedia 1, 2025
acrylic and color pencil on wood
21 × 13 × 4 inches

These modular works use a grid associated with
efficiency and extractive logics to construct and
fracture the image simultaneously. Each wooden
block acts as a minimal unit of meaning, yet the
silhouettes they compose break apart, slide, or
resist the order that contains them. Chromatic
fields gesture toward landscape only to disrupt
it, creating layers that oscillate between
naturalistic suggestion and conceptual fiction.
Bodies surface and recede within this shifting
geometry, underscoring how visual systems organize
space—and how that organization governs inclusion,
exclusion, and the distribution of visibility.
