Describing this new series of paintings, Boulton explains, "After ten years of circling the floral still life genre and working with memories of similar imagery I have let my work disintegrate the motif's and tropes of the genre. I have always been fearful that the subject would dissolve, but letting go has given me a huge amount of freedom in my process, mark making and compositions. I feel there is a thread that keeps my work tethered to the genre. I find that when I am in the process of painting from my stream of memories I am now referencing my own works within the mix and letting the paint slide naturally with the flow of memories. During my process I explore layers of internal memories through the conduit of the floral motif and the materiality of paint. This mediative process allows me access not just the flow of surface memories, but to delve into deeply buried memories producing raw visceral paintings." Miranda Boulton
