Marco Bell, Bolivar Motor Oil, 2015
Giclée print on Canson Arches 88 cotton paper.
14 × 11 inches

Marco Bell's work explores the symbolic and political intersections between Venezuela and the United States. Bolívar, New York, is a long-term photographic and performative project set in a small oil town in upstate New York named after Simón Bolívar. Through a series of staged interventions, Bell constructs a poetic reflection on national identity, extractivism, and the migration of symbols across geographies. The work becomes both a document and an act of ritual memory, situating the Venezuelan diaspora within a trans-American narrative of resource, ruin, and rebirth.
