Cathartic Comedy
Organized by Jennifer Sullivan
Friday June 21, 7pm

Presented by Emma Gray / Five Car Garage, Los Angeles

Cathartic Comedy and Cat Paintings is a performance event hosted by Jennifer Sullivan that will assemble artists who process emotions in a humorous and performative vein. Using stand-up comedy as a process somewhere between therapy and drawing, it’s a direct method of sharing the imperfect but authentic parts of ourselves. Performers for the event on June 21st include Zuriel Waters on saxophone, special guests Amy Khoshbin and Peter Labier, and others to be announced.

In conjunction with the event, Sullivan is exhibiting recent paintings of her cat, a frequent alter ego and muse that she uses to explore her own primal energy.

NADA House is NADA’s second off-site exhibition on Governors Island, featuring over 45 artists from NADA Member galleries and non-profits across 34 rooms in three historic, turn-of-the-century Colonial Revival houses. The collaborative, public exhibition will be on view every weekend, Friday through Sunday, 11am–5pm from May 2, 2019 to August 4, 2019.
