NADA Presents: David Colman
March 11, 2pm
THE GREAT DICTATOR, OR THE QUEEN’S ENGLISH, DAVID COLMAN
Under the guise of a helpful demonstration of dictation features on Apple products and in Dragon Dictation software, “The Great Dictator, or The Queen’s English” also explores what proper diction, enunciation, elocution and electrocution all must be if one is to speak adequately properly for the dictation sentience to heed, understand and translate one’s words. For the purposes of visualizing this action of dictation in the correct way, the piece will call upon the example of one of popular culture’s most extreme enunciators, Dr. Zachary Smith from the television series “Lost in Space.” As luck would have it, the dictation robot can understand Dr. Smith’s particular dialect perfectly.
