NADA Presents: Freshkills Park Field R/D
March 10, 4pm
FRESHKILLS PARK FIELD R/D ARTISTS ON ENGAGING A CHANGING LANDSCAPE
Presented with Freshkills Park.
Organized by artist/curator Dylan Gauthier and Freshkills Park’s Mariel Villeré, Freshkills Park Field R/D is an expansive and collaborative art-research project at the world’s largest landfill-to-park project, located on the west shore of Staten Island. While the Park opens in phases, artists have been invited behind the scenes to develop research and public projects. In its inaugural year, Field R/D took the form of seminar conversations and visits to Freshkills Park over the course of 2017 and artists are now refining their proposals for installation and realization in summer and fall 2018. Participating artists including Lize Mogel, Nancy Nowacek, the Dufala Brothers, Joe Riley, and Audrey Snyder will discuss their process and value of working on this unique site at the intersection of art, environmental science, and legacies of waste.
NADA Presents is a series of conversations, performances, and events during NADA New York showcasing unique voices in contemporary art and culture. Join us as they share the stage in an eclectic line-up of public programs.
